Tucked discreetly behind Spencer Street’s industrial facade sits The Angry Dog, a dive bar with an attitude, personality, and community pulse that’s impossible to ignore once you step inside. For those who’ve walked past without realising it’s there, blink and you’ll miss it … Yet those who find it never want to leave. While outside food is welcome (because you do you) The Angry Dog also partners with local kitchen collaborators to bring fast, quality eats to match the drinks. It’s a mission: support local, eat great, drink well, and feel part of a community rather than just a consumer. 

The bar serves a large variety of cocktails, mocktails, spirits plus local beers & wines (including low and no-alcohol options), proudly featuring partners like Stomping Ground brews and local distillers like Antagonist Gin.  

The aesthetic chops the vibe further. Vibrant lamps, funky furniture, ivy and greenery tangled through exposed pipes, retro couches, a 1920s-flavoured booth area and the beloved mannequin “Elaine” tattooed and perched where your drinks list lives. It’s somewhere you exist, not just show up. 

As if the bar itself wasn’t enough, The Angry Dog also houses its infamous Doghouse Confessional. The toilets double as a fully sanctioned wall of truth. Armed with Sharpies (conveniently stuck to the walls), patrons are encouraged to legally tag, scribble, confess, review, vent, regret, praise or immortalise their thoughts directly onto the walls. It’s part feedback loop, part therapy session, part chaotic art installation. A constantly evolving snapshot of the people who pass through.
